What Has Been Accomplished

Denying Trump a Second Term (for Now)

Raising Consciousness

There Was Increased Turnout in Last Election

People are more aware of the danger.

Can a poem spur some resolve--
a poem inspired by one of America's greats:
It is winter, and thoughts turn to cold, snow, wind, and frost--
(at least before global warming.) But for you to consider we offer a thoughtful poem in homage to an American iconic poet:
Robert Frost. Of course his most famous poem is, "Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening," the most famous lines being: "My little horse must think it queer / To stop without a farmhouse near." The original is allegorical and with deep meaning. The revision also is deep but with more enormous stakes in the journey of the rider, or, by extrapolation, the collective journey of our country through a dark and dangerous political landscape:

The stakes are high, I well do know:
My work is clear, the way to go.
Mighty are the obstacles,
And vague the polling oracles.

My little horse must think it odd
That some people revere a "god"
As evil as that fascist Trump.
I have to spur his sluggish rump.

There's less than a year until that day
When America will choose its way.
When if that monster steals a win,
His "revengeful" term will soon begin.

Therefore there is much work to do
Before that day good people rue.
The road before us shows a choice:
Much stress before we might rejoice.

Into the woods of uncertainty
Even if it seems an agony:
The hatred of his goons to see
Who wish to end democracy.

We must move on and cannot rest
Until we win that election test:
Before we know our country we'll keep
None of us can soundly sleep.
